My Kind of Hole in One

One of the most ridiculous golf shots ever, and probably the only way I’d ever make a hole in one. Off the water, into the cup! (It’s the second tee shot of the video.)

The Gettysburg Address as a Powerpoint Presentation

Today is President’s Day. We should take a moment to examine the great moments of our countries history. With that in mind, here is a dynamic moment in time made even better with today’s modern technology and software (insert sarcastic laughter).

A while ago, Peter Norvig, Google’s director of research, put up this gem.

This is how the Gettysburg Address would look as a modern powerpoint presentation.

If you have something to say, say it. If you have something to show, show it.

Enough with the powerpoints, already!

Joe Sakic > Michael Jordan + Babe Ruth + Wayne Gretzky

Turns out Michael Jordan didn’t make as much as Joe Sakic. Neither did Wayne Gretzky, the legend of Joe Sakic’s sport.

At least not when you look at the salary ratio and account for the type of sport, the year. All hail Joe.

A Shocking Look Back

It’s 2007. Apple has just announced the first version of its now ubiquitous iPhone. What’s Steve Ballmer’s take? Well, just watch the video. After reading the biography of Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson, it’s clear that Jobs was first a visionary product man, who later figured out how to lead a company in the last stage of his life. Steve Ballmer? Not so much.

Fast forward five years later. The iPhone now brings in more revenue and profit than Microsoft. Right, the entire company.

Simply stunning.

Why Do I Need Three Websites?

…is a simple question we hear very often. And then afterwards, “I already have a website. I don’t want to pay for three of them!

Here’s our answer and our quick take on responsive design. (If you want a longer answer, we can stop by Great Divide Brew Co. some time and talk in depth, on us).

Responsive Design is a necessity in 2012. It was back in 2011. And even in 2010.

First of all, you don’t need three websites. Just one that adapts to the device that’s being used to view it. Responsive design is a tool that allows your company’s brand to look incredible whether viewed on a mobile screen such as an iPhone or Android device, or on a tablet, most likely an iPad. Your website’s look will change to accomodate the screen size of the device. Buttons won’t be hard to push. Content won’t be too small to read. It’s a very beautiful and nifty trick.

The responsive design you’ll receive from the Ben + Chelsea Design House will ensure that your website and marketing looks great no matter where or how someone looks at it.

More and more people are using the web in a mobile fashion. You don’t want to miss out on this revolution. It’s nearly as powerful as when you launched your first website back in 1999.

Let’s together and chat more about how we can help your company grow with changing times, and stay relevant even in 2012, or 2013, or 2014. You get the idea. Let’s make this happen.

Shout Out | Warby Parker

I just received my Warby Parker Beckett eyeglasses in the mail and I couldn’t be happier. To start the process, Warby Parker sent me five pairs to demo out before I made a decision. I had plenty of time to check out each pair and make a thoughtful decision. Free shipping there and back. Great looking glasses. Premium lenses. All for $95. Want more? For every pair you buy, they give a pair of glasses to someone in need. Eyewear can be expensive and a hassle to procure. Warby Parker most definitely changes this game. Give them a look!

Teaching is More Than Test Scores

A student from an abusive household wrote me a letter today: “I’ve never had a good father but you are always there for me and are what I always thought a dad should be. Thanks for being totally epic.” #TeachingIsMoreThanTestScores
